2024 Gibson Lecture Series August 5th through the 9th 12:00 noon – 1:00pm
The Spiritual Life Committee is pleased to announce that our Educator-in-Residence for the Gibson Lectures this year is Scott Myers who is an Associate Professor of Screenwriting at DePaul University. The Gibson Lectures are scheduled for the first full week of August (Monday, August 5 through Friday, August 9).
Scott has written over thirty movie and TV projects at every major Hollywood studio and broadcast network. His screenwriting credits include K-9 (Universal) which spawned two sequels, Alaska (Sony/Castle Rock), and Trojan War (Warner Bros)
He has taught in the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and since 2008 has hosted GoIntoTheStory.com. He joined the faculty at DePaul’s School of Cinematic Arts in the fall 2016. Scott graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Religious Studies and Yale University, where he received a Masters of Divinity. Scott Myers is the author of The Protagonist’s Journey: An Introduction to Character-Driven Screenwriting and Storytelling. For the Gibson Lecture, he will apply the themes of his book to explore theological concepts present in modern cinema. Bring your own popcorn. This will be fun!
The Gibson Lecture is funded by the Pilgrim Fund. Please consider a gift to the Pilgrim Fund designated for the Gibson Lecture.
