NEW! Duo Piano Concert:
Hyemin Kim and Michael Coonrod will present a free concert in the CSA Meeting House Friday, Aug. 18 at 7:30 PM playing music arranged for two pianos. The program will include the Overture to "Candide" by Leonard Bernstein, Fantasy in F minor by Franz Schubert, and Sonata in F minor by Johannes Brahms. Dr. Hyemin Kim serves as a Collaborative Pianist and teaches secondary piano lessons at Interlochen Arts Academy. Dr. Michael Coonrod recently retired from the Interlochen Center for the Arts, where he has taught and performed for 46 years.
The CSA has three concerts a summer funded by family endowments for which we are extremely grateful. The concerts are free and open to the public and are held at the Meeting House.
The Dutton Concert, on Saturday July 8th at 7:30 pm, will feature Pierce Emata who will play a beautiful piano recital.
Saturday, July 29th at 7:30 pm, the Burrows-Getz Concert will be a baroque ensemble from the Interlochen Summer Music Camp Faculty. Alexandra Dunbar - harpsichord, Tim Shiu - baroque violin; and Laura Oagood Brown - soprano, will perform music of Handel, Bach, Strozzi and more.
The Armstrong Concert, Between the Lakes Brass Quintet made up of Interlochen faculty and staff will perform a concert of light classics and standard jazz tunes at the CSA on August 5th at 7:30pm. Featured performers will be Morgen Low and Lydia Hanje on Trumpet, Derrick Rassinier on Horn, Tom Riccobono, Trombone, and Claudia Shassberger on Tuba. They will perform works by Arnold, Ewald, Maurer, DeLorenzo, Fats Waller, Ellington, and Scott Joplin!.
