CSA Tennis Tournament Registration

The 2026 CSA tennis tournaments
July: Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 11
August: Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 8.

 
July Registration time frame:  Friday 6/26 noon - Friday 7/3 3pm (additional days to previous years registration window).
Categories: 18 with singles and doubles choices

Electronically - Click here to open an online July tennis tournament registration form.  Complete the questions and submit to register for the tennis tournament.  
 
If accessing this link and not yet registered for the CSA 2026 season, please register as soon as possible and complete the google form appropriately.  This is the primary reason for the electronic registration process: to reach those who are not here yet or en route to the CSA.
 
If playing doubles, both players register separately, and if you are playing in 2 categories, complete the form twice.
 
Written sign up - these forms, as we have done for many years,  will also be posted on the tables in the Assembly Building with all rules and expectations.  
 
Brackets will be ready and posted on the Assembly front porch Sunday 7/5 afternoon.

Tournament Rules:

 
  1.  Only current Assembly ticket holders are eligible to play in the tournaments. Current valid Racquet Tags (included with registration) are required of all persons 16 and older. CSA registrations/Racquet Tag information shall be checked by Tennis Committee chairs to assure compliance.
  2. Participants shall register no later than 3:00pm (noon) on Friday, July 3.  There are no exceptions for late submissions. Sign up online by clicking here or at the CSA office.
  3.  A player may sign up for a maximum of two events. Sign-ups must include full names and contact information.
  4. If entering two events, players shall be available to play two matches in one day.
  5. A player shall be able to play in the first round on the first day of the tournament.
  6. A player shall be available to play all week at the time scheduled by the CSA Tennis Committee. Schedule conflicts must be agreed upon, and the CSA Tournament Contact shall be informed of the changes in advance of the match.
  7. Each player/team shall provide a new can of balls at the match. 

8. Age Requirements for Matches

Seniors 60 years of age and older
Adults 17 and older
Boys and Girls 16 and under
Jr. Boys and Girls 12 and under
Novice 9 and under

Mixed Parent/Grandparent with Child/Grandchild*

(Any combination of youth (male/female) and parent/grandparent (male/female) — two brackets:)

Bracket 1 Youth age 8 to 10
Bracket 2 Youth age 11 to 14

*These two events are intended for parents/grandparents ONLY, paired with children and grandchildren. Please, no exceptions.

CSA Tennis Tournament Rules for Play

The CSA tennis tournament is conducted by the Racquet Sports Committee with input and support of the tennis staff. Questions may be directed to Committee Chair Alan Marble at 517-388-0945.

All participants must have current CSA Assembly tickets. All participants 16 years old and older must also have a current racquet tag. “Current” means that an individual 9 years old and older has an Assembly ticket / racquet tag (if 16 years old or older) for the time period during which he/she participates in CSA tennis activities.

Each team must supply a new can of tennis balls, with the match winner keeping the unopened can. 

  1. Adults, and ages 13 to 16, play 2 out of 3 sets, with a 7-point tiebreaker, changing sides every 6 points. This group plays at the Woods Courts.
  2. Players ages 9 and under, and 10 to 12, play an 8-game pro set with a 7-point tiebreaker at 7-7, changing sides every 6 points.
  3. The parent-child, grandparent-grandchild teams play an 8-game pro set with a 7-point tiebreaker at 7-7, changing sides every 6 points.
  4. Any ball striking overhead power lines is a “let”: the point is replayed, 1st serve.
  5. Warm-up time is limited to 10 minutes.
  6. Players shall check in with designated court supervisor's courtside before the match, and shall record scores with the court supervisors immediately following completion of their matches.
  7. Court supervisors will help assign courts as the courts open up.
  8. Court supervisors will mediate in case of disputes over line calls or scoring.
  9. Court supervisors and staff will monitor matches for behavior and coaching (coaching by voice, text or hand signals is prohibited in CSA tournaments).
    1. Minor infractions are progressive in nature, with 3 steps: warning, followed by game penalty and finally disqualification. “Minor” infractions include yelling, dropping racquet on purpose, taking too much time between points and games, and coaching.
    2. Major infractions are also progressive, with 2 steps: game penalty, then disqualification. “Major” infractions include audible profanity, racquet and/or ball abuse.
  10. Players’ relatives and friends should refrain from clapping for errors or double faults. Encouragement is welcome, but no coaching or strategizing.
