Our Trustee, Darcy Howe, will represent the Pilgrim Fund at the November CSA Board meeting this year, in Chicago.

Once again this year, a “letter of appeal for support” was sent out to the CSA membership in Early September. The result has again been gratifying. The Fund has received (to date) and acknowledged (by personal letter) a total of 69 donations, amounting to $6,956. The majority of these donations have been made without specific designation. However, donations have also been received designating support of the Ecology Project, the Gibson Series, and memorials for the following individuals: James Rogers, Lyman Spitzer, Luanne Buzzell, Doris Robertson, Linda Baker Evans, Stewart Bates, and Walt Stradal. Contributions continue to arrive each week! Considerable contributions were received following the mailing of the Assembly News last year, and so we would once again suggest the inclusion of the “envelope” in this year’s mailing, as has been the practice for the previous several years.

Church “plate offerings” totaled $22, 666.86for the 10 week summer season (or an average of approximately $2, 267 each week). The largest offering was received on week number 9 (August 12th) of $2,977.41, while the most modest offering once again was received on week number 1 (June 17th) of $826. The generosity of our Assembly “family” continues to be most impressive. The Pilgrim Fund has sent out charitable contributions (of $500.00 each) to the eight (8) organizations recommended by the Spiritual Life Committee and endorsed by the CSA Board of Trustees. These include Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, Church World Services, Baby Pantry of Benzie County, Benzie Area Christian Neighbors, Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County, Benzie Home Health Care, and The Maples. We submitted a news release to the Benzie County Record Patriot, which was published in the October 3rd edition (see attached article and picture). Special thanks to Trustee Cliff VanDyke for making this presentation.

$21,064.03 of allowable CSA 2012 season expenses has been reimbursed to the CSA. Other expenditures are specified in the financial statement. As ever, we are indebted to Timothy T. Royle, CPA, for the preparation and maintenance of our Fund financial records.

The Pilgrim Fund was pleased to be able to support our Educator-In-Residence for the Gibson Series this past season. The Rev. Canon John L. Peterson was with us for a week in August to lead discussions on “The Man with the Withered Hand: Secrets the Bible, Archeology and Geography Reveal Today about Who We Are”. Rev. Peterson also led our worship service on August 12th. Performances in each of the three Pilgrim Fund endowed concert series were well attended and enthusiastically appreciated. These included the Dutton Concert (with Eva Lymenstull, cello; accompanied by her parents, T.J. Lymenstull and Susan Day, piano), the Burrows-Getz Concert (with Isabelle Perrin, harp), and the Armstrong Concert (with Sage DeAgro-Ruopp, accompanied by Cynthia Robertson, piano). The Pilgrim Fund was also able to support the speakers for the week-long Ecology Series.

A formal statement of “Investment Policies” has been adopte4d by the Pilgrim Fund Trustees, which is available upon request. A financial statement for the Pilgrim Fund fiscal year (ended September 30, 2012), including a statement of receipts, disbursements, and changes in fund balance, is included herewith and will, as usual, be submitted for publication in this year’s Assembly News.

We will once again be advising the “principle stake holders” of each of the “sub funds” of their financial status (as of the close of our fiscal year), within the Pilgrim Fund, as has been our practice each year in the recent past. As a reminder, with the Ecology Project becoming an integral aspect of CSA activities, the Pilgrim Fund will continue to accept donations designated specifically for the “educational aspects” of the Project and will reimburse the CSA for submitted allowable expenses, accordingly.

Once again, we appreciate the continuing support of the CSA Board of Trustees.
