The CSA Education Fund was established October 24, 1992 to provide scholarships to CSA and Benzie County students to support their educational studies deemed worthy by the CSA Education Fund Trustees. The scholarships are granted to students who have shown financial need, have demonstrated scholastic ability, have participated in community service, and who have been accepted by an undergraduate or post graduate program at an accredited college or university, or into a vocational program. Past recipients are welcome to apply. Scholarships are presented during intermission of the operetta in July. Contributions to the CSA Education Fund are tax deductible. General, honorary or memorial gifts to the CSA Education Fund should be sent to: CSA Education Fund, care of Carol Edmonds, P.O. Box 1026, Frankfort, MI 49635.
Thanks to the generous contributions of the CSA membership and support by local Benzie County area citizens, in 2011 the Education Fund was able to award ten scholarships totaling $25,500. Total scholarship awards since 1992 is $316,000. The year 2011 was the ninth year that the Tom Williams Memorial Service Award was an option for presentation. Leigh Whelpton received this award for 2011 for her outstanding service to her community.
