Rev. Dr. John E. Harnish is a retired United Methodist pastor living on Platte Lake. He served 43 years as pastor of churches in Pennsylvania and Michigan including First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, First United Methodist Church of Birmingham and Court Street United Methodist Church in Flint. For seven years he was an executive with the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, working with programs of theological education around the world. He is a graduate of Asbury College, Asbury Theological Seminary and holds an honorary degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
